Book & Author details:

Men and Martinis by Delancey Stewart
(Girlfriends of Gotham #1)
Publication date: April 15th 2015
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
It’s 1998…and New York City just might not be prepared for the Girlfriends of Gotham…
Natalie Pepper knows almost nothing about New York City, except that it’s far, far away from her home in California. When she packs up everything she owns and moves there on a whim, luck is on her side. She stumbles into a promising marketing job in the developing Internet industry and finds herself surrounded by poised and polished men who are nothing like the guys she knew back home.
One man stands out from the rest… CJ: All-American hunk and genuine good guy. But they work together, and giving in to their mutual attraction could put Natalie’s sparkly new world at risk. She resolves to look, but not to touch…if she can ignore the feeling that he’s the guy she’s been looking for her whole life.
Natalie’s new friend Candace Kanie has no such concerns. From the barroom to the boardroom, she’s used to getting exactly what she wants, and her no-crap attitude ensures nothing gets in her way. But when she meets Damon, the notorious playboy at Natalie’s company, she finds that her take-no-prisoners style might not be as effective in the romantic realm.
Frustrated and often irrational, Candace pushes for what she wants until something’s gotta give. And when it does, she realizes that the one thing she might not do better than anyone else is change.
The first book about the loves, lives, and laughter of a group of friends finding their way in the city is a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy full of Men and Martinis!

We joined the crowd on the floor, where colored lights swirled around us. Within a matter of minutes a driving beat had me feeling like I was on something stronger than alcohol, too. Candace and Maggie were both grinning as they moved, and their happiness helped wash away the doubt that was swirling in my mind around Sam. At first he’d seemed almost perfect— thoughtful and sexy, if not deeply intellectual. But the last couple times I’d seen him, he’d been so unpredictable. It had me feeling completely uncertain. And then there was CJ …
I looked over to find Sam but he wasn’t on the swing anymore. I spotted him at the bar with CJ by his side and wondered if they were bonding somehow. I doubted it. Whatever was going down, I didn’t doubt that CJ could hold his own if he needed to, and I was getting tired of worrying about Sam. I shrugged and purposefully lost myself dancing with the girls. When I looked for Sam next, he was gone. But CJ wasn’t. He stood, back to the bar, a small smile on his face as he watched the dance floor. Watched me?
It was hard to know how long we swayed, gyrated, and turned since every song faded into the next, but after a while, I noticed Candace glaring across the dance floor. My eyes followed her gaze and landed on Damon. With Lulu. He had his arms wrapped around her, her body pulled close to his. One leg was pressed between hers, and what they were doing could probably be construed as dancing, though Lulu’s head was thrown back with her eyes half-closed and her mouth open, and it looked a lot more like something else.
“Shit,” I breathed, moving close to Maggie to make sure she saw what I saw.
“Oh crap,” she said, never one for gratuitous profanity. “Yep. Lulu’s back all right.”
“She’s done this before?”
“It’s kind of her thing. I don’t think she does it on purpose.”
“How does this happen on accident?” I vowed to never introduce Lulu to anyone I was dating seriously.
“She’s really friendly. You’ve met her. She wants to get to know whomever her friends are dating and then … they try to get to know her. There’s something about her, Pepper. You’ll understand when you get to know her better.”
At that moment, I understood only that Lulu was draped all over Damon and that Candace was shaking next to me, steam practically coming out of her ears.

“I’m going to kill her,” Candace said, turning her back on the scene, her voice a low threat.
